Día de los Muertos, Spanish for “Day of the Dead,” is a beloved Mexican holiday where family and friends gather to pray and remember those who have died and help support their spiritual journey. During this time, the Mexican Cultural Institute in DC creates an elaborate ofrenda—a collection of objects placed on a ritual display—creating the perfect backdrop and inspiration for NOW’s annual Día de los Muertos concert.

The program opens with Me gustas cuando callas, a gentle a capella piece on a beautiful poem by Pablo Neruda.  It’s followed by Brahms’s Requiem, which features soprano Laura Choi Stuart, baritone Brian Mextorf, and the Choral Arts Society Chamber Singers.

Come celebrate life and remember those who have passed before us with this beautiful display of sight and sound.

The event will include a post-concert reception with all musicians.
